Dixie
11 year old Saddlebred/Standardbred Mare
Lazy. Independent. Stubborn. High-spirited. Loving. Sweet. Impish. Picky.
Rescued/Adopted in 2001. Dixie is a former nurse mare foal, meaning that her mother was bred to just an ordinary stallion, not for the baby that she would produce but for her milk. The milk that the nurse mare (her mother) is producing is used to nourish the foal of another mare, a more “expensive” foal. The foals, like Dixie, are essentially byproducts of the mare’s milk industry and many are not as lucky as Dixie to be found by a rescue center and saved from a likely cruel fate. I then was lucky enough to adopt her after the standard week that the center holds the foals to be sure they are healthy. She was only a whopping 9 days old when I brought her home. =)

Sasha
4 year old female Golden Retriever
Hyper. Puppyish. Goofy. Sweet. Easily jealous. Smart. Scaredy-cat.
My mom got Sasha from friend in 2009. No real interesting story on where she came from, as far as I know.

JJ
10 year old male Mutt
Troublemaker. Destroyer. Big bad dog. Very smart. Houdini.
We adopted JJ from a local rescue center after his litter were found abandoned in the middle of a field and the mother never returned. He fit in the palm of our hands when we first got him in 2002.

Cows
Note: I can't show all of my cows here since we average having about 50 in our herd at a time, but I am showing you some of the more notable ones... even though they are all notable! =D
Chickens
Note: I can't show all of my chickens here since we have 21... it would just be too many pictures loaded onto the page, but I am showing you some of the more notable ones... even though they are all notable! =D
